Matress falls on Austin

Yep, it was just as horrible as it sounds.  Dave and I bought a new mattress this morning which was delivered tonight.  Dave was trying to be helpful and brought our old mattress out to the kitchen and leaned it against the wall so that it would be right there when the delivery guys came.  Well, Lincoln and Austin were playing and Lincoln accidentally knocked the mattress over and unfortunately it landed on poor little Austin.  I was at the sink when it happened.  I heard the mattress fall and turned around to see two little feet sticking out from under the mattress.

So grateful he was not seriously hurt, just a bloody nose and a fat lip.

Gilroy Gardens

The kids were invited to a birthday party this evening in Gilroy.  We decided to head over to Gilroy Gardens for a little while before heading offer to the party.  This park is so awesome, it has something for each of the kids.  Plus there is lots of shade on those hot days plus these splash pads make being outside bearable.

Love the picture of little Austin in the splash pad.  He is so cute!

Somehow I didn't get any good pictures of Lincoln.  He spilt off to go with Daddy while I watched Austin at the splash pad and then spilt again when they got to pick their last ride.  But if you look carefully he is in the background of the bottom picture in the above collage.  He is wearing a blue rash guard.  :o)

Happy Hollow

It worked out that we were able to meet up with our friends Michelle, Aaron, Kimmy, and Lindy at Happy Hollow.  Since they have moved out of our ward we have not been able to see them as often as we would like and this was a perfect opportunity.

Our kids have always gotten along really well and it was so fun to see them catching up with each other.  Greeting each other with big hugs and everything.  And yes, they are holding hands in that picture and yes, it was a candid shot.  Haha!

Austin is getting big enough to go on many of the rides.  He seemed to enjoy himself, he has been wanting to do everything Payton and Lincoln have been doing for a while now.  Can't wait to get him on the rollercoaster.  :o)

Austin's 1st Haircut

Yeah, Austin was getting a little shaggy looking.

He did really well sitting for his first hair cut.  Then again I just used the clippers and did one length all over.  No fading on this little man.  Haha!  I think he looks like a little stud.

Austin Stands by himself!

And I caught it on camera!  :O)

Children's Discovery Museum

My friend, Jessie, invited us to go with her and her kids to the Children's Discovery Museum today.  What a wonderful place for kids to go.

I think we ended up going through all the exhibits, some we spent a long time in and just a few minutes in others.

The kids loved the face painting area.  I have to admit that this was not my favorite area.  They painted their own faces...I am proud to say that I just let them do it, this was not easy for me.  Haha!

They also LOVED the kitchen area.  I think Jessie and I ate 5 or 6 pizzas each.  We were in this area the longest and just as we were getting ready to move on Lincoln discovered the corn husk doll craft area.  So back we went to make dolls.

The last area we went to was the water area.  All of them really enjoyed playing with the water but not more than Austin.  Haha!  He ended up in one of the tubs of water.  Can you say clothes change?  :o)

It was a really fun day.

Austin Gets Stitches

Went on a family picnic up at Santa Teresa Park.  Austin was crawling around and somehow his head connected with the pavement at the exact place a little rock was sitting.  The rock stuck in his forehead and off we went to the ER.

Fortunately, when we got there the same plastic surgeon that stitched up Lincoln's forehead was there and was available to stitch up Austin.  He ended up with 4 stitches in his forehead and I don't think he could have taken anymore.  He screamed and fought the entire time and managed to escape the papoose once...almost twice.  He is such a strong a determined little boy.
Love the "after" hair.

Austin's Family Birthday Party

Since we didn't get quite enough partying in yesterday, we continued Austin's birthday celebration today.

We had all our family over for dinner, cake, and presents.

I absolutely love this picture of Austin with cake all over of his face.  He is adorable!  And I also love the picture of everyone taking pictures of Austin.  So funny.

Documentation of the Ahlgren tradition of giving a box of Kleenex for their first birthday.  It was really cute watching him go to town pulling all the Kleneex out on his birthday...not each time he has found a Kleenex box since.  Haha!

Austin's First Birthday

Today was Austin's First Birthday.  I can't believe he is already a year old.

He is such a sweet boy and has such a loving personality.  He is adventurous and curious, he interested in everything and gets into everything.  He is my best eater at the moment, hasn't turned down anything I have given him.  But he definitely has a sweet tooth.  :o) He is a great sleeper,  thank goodness! And he LOVES animals, Rumba and him are buddies.  He is the only one of my children that does not shy away from dogs.  We are so blessed to have him in our family.

We started the morning with Dave's tradition of taking the birthday boy to McDonald's for breakfast and as a special treat we all got to go.  Yay!  The kids really do love this tradition and look forward to it.  I'm so glad the Dave thought to start doing it.

After breakfast we went home to get ready for his little birthday party.  We invited the usual playgroup friends and had a blast.

We had a water table for the little ones, and different size wading pools for the bigger kids.  Austin loved all the action, food, and attention.  :o)

At this point I know all the decorations and fuss are more for me than him but I'd like to think he noticed and appreciated the effort put into his party.  :o)  I was so grateful to have mom's help putting up the decorations and preparing for the party.

So grateful for Jessie and Cassy showing me how to make those little pom pom balls.  They are so fun!

I made food labels!  Something I always talk about doing and then never get around to.  I attempted being creative with what I labeled the food...at least I did the food labels.  Haha!

Grandma Vella's 80th Birthday Party

Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go!

Today is Grandma Vella's 80th Birthday.  We have been planning a very special day for her and was excited for the day to finally be here.

First off, we decided to switch Austin to a forward facing seat.  He has been protesting for a while and thought, "why not?"  He loved it.  You could see in his face how excited he was to be facing forward like his big brother and sister.  He even got a milkshake on the way.  Lucky!

The church that my grandmother goes to, was gracious enough to let us have the party in their building.  Good thing too because our alternative plan was to have the party in my grandmother's backyard and it ended up being 100 degrees outside.  Yikes!  So grateful for fans and air conditioning.  :o)

We prepared a luncheon the included a green salad, fruit salad, bread, and a pasta bar that included four different kinds of sauce.  So yummy, if I do say so myself.  We also had a dessert bar provided by my ever so talented sister, Jen.  Everything looked and tasted great!

We invited many of my grandmother's close friends but also had lots of family come.  It was so nice to see everyone.  We hadn't seen some of our family in many years.

After the luncheon was over and all cleaned up we headed over to my grandmother's house for the "after party".  Grandma had purchased an inflatable pool for the kids to play in and the rest of us spent the time catching up with each other.  Payton and Lincoln were so excited to see their cousins Caeden and Maddix, who were able to come back from Colorado for the celebration.  Dave took advantage of all my grandmother's fruit trees and picked grapes and peaches.  Yummers!

Since we had so many of our family together, we took advantage and snapped a few group photos.  So awesome!

My mom's brother, Ron, was able to come out.  Which was so awesome!  I know my mom and grandma were especially excited to see him.

We also took advantage of the pretty scenery and tried to get a few cute family shots.  Believe it or not this was the only picture without someone making a silly face.  Haha!  Gotta love those kiddos!

Ashley's Birthday Party

Today was Ashley's 19th Birthday!  We joined the celebration at the club pool where the kids swam with Auntie Ashley and her friends.  They had a blast swimming.

Ralph barbecued the best hot dogs ever, then again I could have just been really hungry.  Haha!  Anyway, we enjoyed our meal on the deck at the pool.  So nice!

Ashley had wanted to do a repeat of Payton's outdoor movie party.  Fortunately she decided that during Payton's party so we were able to keep all the decorations.  :o)  While Dave was getting the movie all set up Ashley opened her presents.  I was super excited to give her ours because I had made her a teal maxi skirt and was hoping she would love it.  She seemed super excited when she opened it so I hope she did.

During the movie there was freshly popped popcorn, nachos, candy, and sodas.  The kids wanted to stay and watch the movie so bad but I didn't figure Count of Monte Cristo was an appropriate movie for them so I had to drag them and their sad faces home.  I know, I know, I am a mean mommy, but we had to get up early the next day for Grandma Vella's Birthday Party.
