Sick Payton

Well yesterday Payton woke up at 10 and then went back down for a nap at 1. She didn't get up from that nap until 6. Then back to bed at 9:30. Obviously she still doesn't feel good.

So you ask what did I do all day. Absolutely nothing. I didn't think she was going to be down for that long and then I kept thinking that she'd wake up in a little bit and never started anything. Oh well.

This morning as I walked into the gym the sweet lady at the front desk asked if I was expecting a little one. I almost inocently said, "What are you talking about?" :o) I guess I am officially showing. LOL I have seen them looking at me suspicously for the past week, I was just waiting for someone to say something. Nice.

It Is Done!

I did it! I finished the quilt yesterday! I will be the first to admit that you can definately tell an beginner sewer did it but that is OK. Yehaw! Payton seemed to really like it and that is all I care about.

Payton feeling better was short lived. Last night her temperature went back up to 102 degrees. Yikes! She has done an aweful lot of crying these last couple of days. I wish I knew what was wrong so that I could try to make it better. I have to admit that all the crying has frazzled my nerves. I hope she feels better soon.

On a lighter note, my mother and I took the opportunity to trim Payton some bangs while she was in one of the ups this morning. I took some pictures to document the event.

Quilting

I can see the end in sight. I finished quilting the quilt I am working on for Payton. The only thing I have left is the edging or border or whatever you call it. I am hoping that I bought enough of it and that I can finish it soon.

Payton, Payton, Payton. After lunch she became very indecisive. She wanted to go to the park, she didn't want to go to the park. She wanted to go to the pool, she didn't want to go to the pool. It seemed like I just couldn't make her happy. When we got back from tthe pool I just decided to put her down for a nap because she would stop crying.

She went to sleep right away and stayed asleep for almost two hours. When she woke up she was hot, hot, hot and wouldn't stop crying. I felt so bad, we could tell she just didn't feel good but we couldn't figure out what was wrong. She had a temperature and we couldn't get her to eat or drink anything. Finally I just picked her up and rocked her until she calmed down.

I am glad to say that she seems a little better this morning. I just can't believe how hard it was for me to see her like that. It broke my heart.

Sidewalk Chalk

So in my efforts to find things to keep Payton entertained I thought I would try and tap into her artistic side. Last week I bought a bunch a different art supplies (big crayons, sidewalk chalk, and finger paints). My mom thought these axctivities might be a little to old for her but I say "Hey, let's just try it."

This morning was the maiden voyage for the sidewalk chalk. I might of had more fun than she did but I think she enjoyed it too. I drew...badly and she carried around the chalk, scribbled a little on the driveway and a little on the garage door. :o)

I am excited to see her learn how to hold pens, pencils, chalk, etc... and also how to use them.

A Chair Just Her Size.

So ever since I saw the little couch that my friend Jessica recovered I have been on the search for a little chair for Payton. She just loves things that are her size. I just never realized how expensive those little chairs are. Yikes! My mother and I went to just about every store in Gilroy that we could think of that would carry them. We finally found some at the Home Goods store.

Payton saw this pink and white chair and fell in love. She wouldn't get out of the chair. It was so funny, she jumped into it leaned back and sighed in contentment. Very cute. These chairs were still more than I wanted to spend but they were willing to give me a discount due to how dirty it was (I figured I could clean it up). I asked them to hold it for me. Payton cried and cried as we left.

I talked to Dave about it and we decided to go ahead and get the chair. I went back to the store on Saturday with my mom. As soon as Payton saw the chair she ran for it. I think we made a good desicion.

She has been in and out of that chair since we got it. I am so glad we got it. I love watching her in it.

I'm Back!

So my sewing maching decided it hated me last week. For some reason the bobbin thread wasn't coming through. This is part of the reason why I didn't take the quilt I started to the craft night.

Well, my mother came over yesterday and I asked her to take a look at my machine. She worked her magic and it started working again. Yay! I made her sit and wait for me to sew a couple of the pieces just in case it was only working because she was sitting there. :o)

She ended up staying while I finished sewing together the top of the quilt. How exciting! It looks so cool and I am so proud of myself. Now, if I only new what I needed to do next to finish it. :o) I guess it is time to pick my friend Jessica's brain for help.

This morning has already been a busy morning. This week is bring a friend free week at Gilroy Gardens and since Aimee has a season pass she was nice enough to take me. We went for about an hour, just before Gage and Payton's nap time. It was so nice today because it was a little overcast today and a very comfortable temperature. Today we went on totally different rides than we went on the last time we went. Payton even went on some rides by herself. (I was so proud of her).

Craft Night

Last night a group of us got together for a craft night. It was so fun. We all just brought something we wanted to work on and a yummy treat to share. Visiting being our number one priority. LOL

I was torn between taking the quilt I have been trying to work on and scrapbooking. I opted for scrapbooking. I miss scrapbooking. I haven't done it in a while. To give you an idea, I am still trying to scrapbook my trip to Hawaii in, I think, 2002.

I do have plans to try and work on my hobbies during Payton's naps a couple times a week. So hopefully that will allow me to get caught up on my scrapbooking. Last night I got one set of pages done. Better than nothing. :o)

I hear we are going to make the craft night a monthly event. I can't wait for the next one.

Apricot Jam

Yesterday the Day's were nice enough to let Aimee and I come over and raid their apricot tree. One thing led to another and Aimee and I were making jam last night. 3 whole batches.

I am suprised that we were successful. Neither of us had ever made jam before on our own and both of us have a history of not being good with recipes or directions. :o) All 3 batches turned out and all the jars of jam sealed. We are very excited. I hope it tastes super yummy.

So while I was at the gym I read an article about a woman that worked out during her pregnancy. She talked about her experience with people giving her disapproving looks while she was jogging or making comments like "your belly is supposed to pop out" while she was doing ab exercises. I got a kick out of the article because I remember when I was pregnant with Payton people always gave me their two cents about my workouts.

The writer made the comment that she thought it was interesting that more people, especially those that are so into fitness didn't know or understand the benefits of working out while pregnant. Of course you do need to be resonable and listen to your body but overall it is really good for you. I am so glad I have the doctor that I have. She really supports me staying active during my pregnancy and just tells me to listen to my body and that it will tell me when I can't do something which it unfortunately has started to do. I have already had to start backing off on the amount of weight that I am lifting. But I did run 3 1/2 miles this morning and that felt good!

I really want to get a prenatal pilates and/or yoga video. Does anyone know of any good ones?

Play Date

I love Mondays! If you know me very well at all you know that I constantly stress about what I am going to do with Payton during the day. I don't want her to get bored and I sure as heck don't want to get bored. I want to make sure that she stays stimulated and happy. So as you can probably imagine what you do with a 15 month old all day every day can be overwhelming.

Mondays are sort of my free day. We all get together and the kids play. It is so nice. Plus I love visiting with all my firends. :o) Yesterday we all went to Jessica's house for the play date. We talked about how different the play dates are now as compared to what they used to be like. All the babies are all mobile. They used to sit around and look at each other now they are all over the place. Even little Sadie was keeping up with all of them. Amazing!

After the play date and after Payton's nap we decided to take a little swim. I thought it was going to be really nice. After all it had been hot all day. Well yesterday it decided to cool off as soon as the sun started going down. Not that it was cold but it wasn't as warm as I had thought or hoped it would be.

Gilroy Gardens

On Friday, Aimee, Gage, Jessica, Sadie, Payton, and I braved the heat and went went to Gilroy Gardens. I had never been before, it was pretty cool. I think it is a pefrect place to go if you have younger kids. We didn't get through the whole park but the portion I saw was really well kept and had rides that younger kids would love.

Payton really isn't ready to go on any rides by herself but we did try a few of the rides that I could do with her and I think she had a good time. She seemed a little nervous of the Merry-Go-Round at first and pretty much had a death grip on me the whole time the ride was moving but she to warm up to it by the time it was over.

I think it would be fun to go again...maybe when it it a little cooler. :o)

Have you ever wondered what would happen to your children when you are sick and daddy is taking care of them. Wonder no more... :o)

This past weekend I ended up getting flu or something. My skin and joints hurt. I was naseated. My low back hurt so bad. Then my back started hurting between my shoulder blades and all around to my chest, I thought I might be having a heart attack. I even almost passed out. I have never had that tunnel vision before, I ended up on the floor and had to have Dave come pick me up. I am so glad that I am feeling better now. Yay! I hope that doesn't happen again.

Spoiled!

Can I just say that Payton is a very spoiled little girl. She and I went to the Dollar Store yesterday to pick up some odds and ends. As soon as we walked in the door she spotted all the balloons they had blown up. I mean she was entranced by them, it was hilarious. She was looking up at the balloons and not to where she was going. I am suprised that she didn't run into anything. Well she ended up wandering right into the store manager who thought she was so sweet and ended up giving her a happy face balloon. She was so excited. That same manager ended up running into us again and then wanted to give her a sticker. Payton was just beaming. Spoiled!

I also wanted to include this little picture of Payton's pig tails post nap...

I also just realized that I have not mentioned anywhere in my blog that I am pregnant. So here we go, I AM PREGNANT! I am just over 15 weeks along now. Thankfully over the part of my pregnancy where I am nauseated all the time. Hopefully soon heading into that short lived middle part when you are filled with energy and are obviously pregnant but are considered "cute" pregnant. Wish me luck! ;-)

Summer Fun!

Last year Dave and I hit the clearance racks at Target for kids pool and summer toys. One of our awesome finds was a little pool activity thingy. It looked like it would be a fun.

Yesterday I pulled it out and spent an hour blowing up all the things on it. I took it out and hooked it up to the hose. It was so fun. She loved it, especially the little slide. She wanted to go down it over and over again.

I think I need to go back and check out those clearance racks again.

As a side note, Dave and I went to Cheescake Factory last night for our friends Anna's birthday. The food was super yummy and we had a really good time.

Piggy Tails

Yesterday I bought some of those little elastic rubber bands to try and put them in Payton's hair.

I had no idea how I was going to tackle this task. I mean little girls wiggle and squirm, how do you get them to hold still? Wouldn't you know that Dave had it figured out last night. :o)

Here are some cute pictures of both Daddy and Mommy's pig tails.

A Fun Day!

Yesterday was such a fun day. We had a play date over at my house. It wasn't really any different than any other play date but I just had so much fun. I think part of it was that we haven't all been around in several weeks due to different vacations and such. I am so glad that I have such a great group of friends and that all our kids get along together. :o) You are all awesome!

To add to the already great day my sister was able to come down for part of the play date. I was so excited. I love spending time with her and watching her with Caeden.

After lunch all of us went to the pool for a little while. It felt so nice because it was so hot. I think today will be another pool day. It warmed up early.

As a little flashback, on Saturday Dave, Payton, and I went on a little bike ride. We have a little trailer that she can ride in that hooks into the back one of our bikes. She seemed to enjoy it at first but I think it got a little hot and she started not to have fun. I can't wait to go again.

Family Reunion

Dave, Payton, and I spent the last week in Utah visiting family and attending a family reunion at Bear Lake.

What a fun trip!

The reunion started on Thursday, July 2 so we had a couple of days to play and hang out before heading to Bear Lake. One of the days, we went to the pool in the development that Jen and Preston live. It was so nice because they had a baby pool and Payton just loved it. When we were swimming a thunderstorm started brewing in the distance but once the lightening started we had to get out of the pool. The storm came up on us really fast and soon was right over us. We ended up having to run back to Jen and Preston's house. Very exciting!

The reunion was a lot of fun. We stayed in huge cabins that overlooked Bear Lake. It was so nice getting to visit with everyone. Each day we had breakfast and dinner together and then did whatever during the afternoon. I think most everyone decided to hit the lake during the afternoon. Payton wasn't too sure she liked the beach at first. I think she takes after her mother and doesn't like to get dirty or be in water that she can't see her feet. :-) She did eventually warm up to the idea and had a good time.

Everyone was so nice and I had a great time.
