Lincoln Broke His Arm

Wow!  Where do I start?

Crash!  (Lincoln falling off my bed)

An "S" shaped arm.

Me running through every room of the house holding Lincoln tightly, thinking.  "What do I do?"  "I need to make a splint for his arm?"  "If I just take him to the doctor like this will his arm break worse?"  "I know, a ruler.  A ruler would make a great splint."  etc. etc. etc.

Finally call Dave.  All he hears is some garbly goop coming out of my mouth about Lincoln's arm and then Lincoln screaming in the back ground.  He tells me to call 911.

Firemen arrive.  Four big guys, all with a big duffle bag in each arm.  They ask about how he fell and where he fell from.  Examined him and told me that he had no life threatning injuries and that we could either cancel the ambulance and I take him to his doctor on my own or we could go in the ambulance.  I decided just to take him on my own.  I apologize over and over for even calling them. Boy did I feel silly, but they assured me that that is what they were there for.

My sister shows up.  Dave called her and asked if she could come over, check on me and give him a run down on what was going on.  Thankfully she was able to stay with me all day and go with me to all the doctor appointments that I ended up having to go to with with Lincoln.  I am so glad she was there.  No only for the emotional support but she had food with her in her car.  Ha!  Ha!  Normally I am prepared with snacks and juice and whatever we may need.  Not today.  Left the house with hardly anything and found myself with two very sad kiddos at two in the afternoon in the radiology waiting room.

After three examinations it was confirmed that Lincoln broke his arm and was going to need a cast.  The fall happened probably a little before 8 in the morning and it was about 4 by the time we were at the doctor's office to get the cast on.  Poor little guy was not a happy camper.

I love this piture.  I call it the stink eye.  I couldn't help but laugh.  That is the look he gave the doctor as he was leaving the room.

It was a long day but Lincoln handled it like a champ.  After the initial fall, he really didn't cry unless someone was messing with his arm or one of the three time he fell on it in the waiting rooms during the day.

I am so glad today is over.

Swim Lessons Day 3!

Swim lessons are going so much better!  After a very serious pep talk from Dave, Payton agreed to not scream at me or Heather and at least try to do what we asked her to do.

Although she is still timid when it comes to putting her face in the water she is showing a lot more confidence in the water.  Today she blew bubbles and got her nose wet.  Yay!

Yep, that lone child standing in the middle of the pool is Payton.  We are still learning how to follow directions and hold on to the side of the pool unless with a teacher.  :o)

This is Lincoln and his friend Calvin.  My friend Sara watches Lincoln, along her son Calvin, at the park next to the pool during the lesson.  Her other son Nolan is in the class with Payton.  So he comes with me and Linc stays with her.  It works out nicely.  They have so much fun.

Making Pizzas

So I wanted to try something different than our usual sandwiches for lunch.  Let's make pizza!  Payton and Lincoln loved it. OK so it was basically an open faced grilled cheese sandwich but they still had fun making and eating it. :o)

I told them how to make them and gave them the cheese to start putting on the bread and walked away to go grab a camera.  When I came back they had put cheese on the bread, counter, and cookie sheet. And then were taking handfulls of it and shoving it in their mouth.  I was cracking up.

Swim Lessons Have Started!

Payton is taking swimming lessons!  What's even better is that I get to help teach the class.  Yay!

Our friend, Heather, had so much interest in the 3 - 4 year old class that she was going to have to drop several of the kids.  So I offered to get in and help teach the class.

My friend Britney snapped the shots of Payton for me since I was in the pool.  Thank you so much Britney!

I wish I could say that the first day of lessons was wonderful...It wasn't.  Payton screamed at me and screamed at Heather.  She sat on the steps and refused to get into the pool.  All that kept running through my head was that she was too young to take swim lessons.  Arghh!  I hope it gets better.

Fortunately, Britney was able to snap "happy" pictures of her.  Ha! Ha!

Gilroy Gardens

Met my mom, my sister with her kids, and a family friend with her kids at Gilroy Gardens.  We had so much fun!  It is such a great place to go with young kids, there were so many rides perfect for Lincoln and Payton.

They had a cool dinosaur exhibit there.  Lincoln thought it was really cool, he LOVES dinosaurs.  He calls them "Saurs".  Ha! Ha!  It is so cute.  The dinosaurs had motion sensors that triggered the different dinosaurs to move when you walked in front of them.  Payton wasn't such a fan at first, it took a little convincing for her to believe that they were not real.

Because we had swim lessons in the morning we didn't get to the park until about 1:30 in the afternoon.  We were able to go on a few rides with everyone but before long everyone else had to leave.  So for the later part of the day it was just us and my mom.  Payton and Lincoln ran from ride to ride until the park closed.  Where do they get their energy?

I love Lincoln's face in this picture.

Play Date at the Marr's

The week the Lunch Bunch and the Play Group combine for one big potluck.  I just love going to the Marr's home and the kids always a have a great time playing in the back yard.

There was lots of yummy food!  I would like to mention specificaly a salad with Poppy Seed Dressing.  Oh my goodness, I spent the entire play date trying to figure out who made it.  Go figure it was the very last person that I asked.  Ha!  Ha!  Jen thank you so much for the recipe.  :o)

One funny story about the play date today.  I was talking with someone when all of a sudden I couldn't see Payton anywhere.  *Scary* I looked everywhere in the backyard and headed into the house to see if by chance she went inside.  I walked past the bathroom door and I hear Sister Marr and Payton.  *Weird* I knock on the door hoping that I really did hear Payton.  Sister Marr opened the door and told me that Payton had asked her to take her to the potty.  Sister Marr said well maybe you should go ask your mommy to take you.  To which Payton responds, but she is not listening to me.  *So not true, Ha!  Ha!* So Sister Marr went ahead and took her.  When I knocked on the door, Payton invited me in and wanted us both to stay.  Sister Marr politely exused herself.  Ha! Ha!  I think it is so funny the she assumes everyone would enjoy going to the bathroom with her.

A Dress for Payton

I am loving Sewing Group!  I actually started and completed something in one sitting.  Granted it was a very long sitting (Jessie, thanking you for letting me stay so long!)

I made Payton a dress.  I am trying learn something new with every project.  With this project I learned how to do a circle skirt.  It turned out so cute and Payton loves to twirl!

Banana Bread

We made yummy banana bread today.  Payton and Lincoln wanted to help.  Payton did a great job of mashing bananas and adding the ingredients.  Lincoln's idea of helping was to eat the bananas.  Ha! Ha!

Jeans Party

My friend Tanya had a Jeans Party.  It was so fun!  I invited my sister, Jen, and friend, Anna, to come with me.  I swear we were laughing the entire time.

It basically boiled down to the sizing of the jeans.  The consultant told us that the jean sizes ran small so to not be upset or alarmed when our usual sizes didn't fit.  We took that into consideration and started looking or and two sizes bigger than our normal.  Before we knew it we had a pile of jeans that we wanted to try on.  When into a room to try them on and immediately realized we should have looked in even bigger sizes.  These jeans were just not fitting and it was hilarious watching each other trying to get them on.

About this time we met Tanya's sister.  She was hilarious.  Facing the same disappointment we were in the sizes we were fitting into.  In the end we were grabbing jeans to try on as a joke, figuring they wouldn't fit anyway.  Fortunately, after everything I did find a cute pair of jeans. Yay!

Playing Princess

I think payton wants a little sister.  Ha!  Ha!  She insisted on Grace wearing her Cinderella dress.

So Cute!
