A fun filled Monday

I thought that it may be fun to do Payton's nails today.  We have done it before and she absolutely loved it!  Today was no different than the last time.  She had a blast!  Her cousin, Caeden, also got her nails done too.

The whole time I was doing her nails she was instructing me on how to do it and what nail I needed to paint next.  I love to see her so excited.

In my experience painting little girls nails, the toe nails are easy peasy.  The finger nails however are a whole different story.  It actually isn't so much the act of painting them but the act of keeping Payton from using her hands for a few minutes.  Ha! Ha!

After all nails were dry we decided it would be fun to meet our friend, Alison, and her little boy, Cooper, at the park and have a little picnic.  I tried to get pictures of all the kids playing together, but I was not successful...Once we got into the gated area they went in all directions.  Ah well, at least they had fun.

Jen and I noticed that the whole time we were at the park none of the kids fought or argued, they all played so nicely.  It was wonderful!  I think having so many if us crammed into our house can be a little stressful at times.  Always sharing everything and being in each others faces seems to be a little trying at times for our little ones.  I guess we will have to get out a little more often.

Oh, and I don't want to forget that Lincoln went down the slide by himself for the first time today.  I tried to get it on video but wasn't successful at that either.  Oh well, at least I got a picture of his smiling face after going down the slide.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Got home from church today and started to make lunch.  However, Payton decided that she wanted to make lunch.  So she did, she made her first PB&J (I took a video).  I know, my daughter is way talented.  Ha! Ha!

She is always wanting to help in the kitchen when I am making dinner.  So I say sure and ask her to help set the table.  She always is so sad because she wants to help make the dinner.  I should just let her help me even if it means dinner will take twice as long to prepare and we will make twice the mess.

Family Saturday

Family Time!  We went to Counrty Inn for breakfast this morning.  It was so nice to get out and just spend some time together.  Nice to just enjoy a meal without having to prepare it or clean up after. :o)

Funny story about breakfast, Dave ordered OJ and when the server brought it to the table he set it at, what he thought was, a safe distance from Lincoln.  Well Linc was playing with a menu and decided to throw/slide the menu across the table and it hit the glass just right and knocked it over.  The glass was full and Dave jumped up and all I could think of to do was find something to clean it up with.  So I handed him a wipee...Dave gave me a blank look and said, "What am I supposed to do with this?"  LOL  I was just trying to help.

Playing Go Fish

Payton got a bunch of games for Christmas.  Princess ones.  She appears to be a big fan of playing games...when Lincoln is not around.  :o)  It turns out he likes to play games too, only not the same way Payton does.  He likes to take the game pieces and either toss them across the room or just take them and run.

Today Lincoln and Payton's naps did not line up so while Lincoln was napping we sat down and played a modified version of Go Fish.  She doesn't totally get it but got it enough to have fun.

102 Fever

It seems like Lincoln has had an ear infection on and off since October.  Poor kid just can't get a break.

This time around he has a double ear infection, some kind of infection in his lungs, and is getting all his 12 month molars at one time.  He has had a temperature of right around 102 for the last couple of days.  :(  The doctor said that we have to come back in a month to make sure that his ears have cleared up and if they haven't we will have to go to an ENT specialist.  Let's just hope he is better.

He has also started this high pitched screaming.  Which I thought or should I say was hoping it was because of the ear infection.  No such luck, the screaming has been accompanied by biting, pinching, and hitting.  He gets so frustrated and I guess doesn't know what else to do. The doctor told me that when he does it that we need to say, "No biting, biting hurts." and then set him in a time out for 30 seconds.  Ummm, it is hard.  She did tell me that I was probably going to have to hold him down in a chair or something for 30 seconds and that if I did I was going to have to close my eyes and not look at him.  The first time I did it all I could do was laugh.  This particular time he didn't get upset being in time out but instead was being silly and trying to get me to laugh.

I think I am going to have my hands full.

Lincoln's Birthday BBQ

Happy Birthday to Lincoln!

We decided to have a family BBQ for little Lincoln's birthday.  Burgers, hot dogs, salad, chips and guacamole, etc...Yummy!  I love a good BBQ.

We definately had a houseful.  Dave's parents and most of his brothers and sisters, Jen and her two kids, Ethan and Grace, were here from Utah, Rob and Keri, Steven and Ashley.  Then my parents, my sister, Jennifer, and her husband, Anthony, plus their two kids Caeden and Maddix. Plus my mom's mom and her special friend, Bob were able to come, as well, as my dad's mom. And as a special treat our friend Jefferey.  I am so glad everyone was able to come.

Lincoln, Payton, and Caeden had so much fun running around outside while Dave was grilling and everyone was arriving.  The whole day the weather was great.  Thanks goodness!

I have been really bad at taking pictures latey.  But here a couple that I did get.  The first picture is of my grandmas, they are watching Lincoln eat a cupcake.  They are so cute!

Here is daddy and Lincoln.  Lincoln just opened one of his gifts from Mamo and Papa Ralph...BALLS.  :o)  He loved them.  He is definately obsessed.

Lincoln's Birthday Play Date

For our Friday play date we had a little birthday party for Lincoln.  This year has really flown by, I can't believe he is 1 already.

It was really just a regular play date but with party favors and "Jen's Cakes" cupcakes.  The cupcakes are always a hit with the kids...as well as the adults.  :o)  I am so lucky to have such a talented sister.

I decided to go with a sports theme since this little boy of mine LOVES balls.  Any kind really, even if it is a cat toy...Yup, carried one around for a whole week.  "Ball" may have been his first word and if not it was definately one of his firsts.

He LOVED his cupcake.  Can you tell?

A little miscalculation...

Ahhhh!!!!!!  I am so mad at myself.

I have been doing "Making the Cut" for about two weeks.  Things are going great, I have lost 3 pounds so far.  Yay!

I am able to comfortably eat within my calories each day.  I am making better food choices and eating a ton healthier than I was before.  I still have a HUGE sweet tooth but I am able to still have a little treat at night (thank goodness for skinny cow sandwhiches and healthy choice fudge bars).  :)

So why am I so mad at myself...

Anthony, asked me what the calculation was to figure out your BMR.  So I was telling him the calculation and I said you add this number to this number and then you add...wait...you subtract this number...  Oh crap!

Yup, I have been eating about 1700 calories a day and I was supposed to be eating just under 1400.  Good Bye Skinny Cows...

Overall, it was probably better that this happened to get me used to the restricted way of eating a little at a time.

Making The Cut

Baby weight.  Why in the world is it so hard for some people to lose?  And by some people I mean me.  Why is it so hard for me to lose it?

I just don't get it.  I eat the same as I did before I got pregnant and I workout the same as I did before I got pregnant.  Why wouldn't I just eventually settle back to my pre pregnancy weight?

Enter Jilian Michaels...Those of us that watch Biggest Loser all know who she is and probably either hate her or would love to work out with her.  Ha! Ha!  Well, I am one that would love to workout with her.  I would absolutely love the challenge.  Anyway, I stumbled accross her book "Making the Cut" while I was looking up magazine subscriptions on the Nook.

The summary basically stated that this book was was for people in good overall physical shape that wanted to lose 20 or less pounds.  I thought, "Hey, that's me!"

I read the book and was more excited to get started and see results.  The workout portion of the program seems totally doable.  Unlike other programs like Insanity that have you working out 6 days a week Jillian's program has you working out 4 days a week.  The diet portion is a different story, I am not a fish person and her diet involved eating fish like 4 days a week. Yuck!  Anyway, I decided to just calculate my BMR and eat in that calorie range.

Wish me luck!
